I work with teenagers and adults who are looking to realign with their authentic selves by overcoming maladaptive cycles of chronic stress and other mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. In today’s world it is easy to fall into the trap of living on autopilot – constantly going through the motions of daily life without actually being present in the moment, leaving you feeling disconnected or out of control. It seems as though sacrificing authenticity and mental health has become a societal norm. If you are feeling lost or struggling with your mental health, I am here to help! Combining cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) & art therapy, my clients learn how to identify and navigate the connection between thoughts, feelings, & behaviors, while using art to connect deeply with themselves as they restructure faulty thinking & regulate their nervous system. Practicing as a licensed therapist with a BA in Art Therapy, a background in trauma-focused work, and training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) allows me to work with people in a comprehensive and unique way. Work with me and see how possible it is to connect to the life that brings you joy and fulfillment! Schedule a free consultation call today!

Childhood and adolescence are, by their very nature, times of growth and change. A broad range of stressors and challenges can get in the way of an individual's ability to successfully negotiate their personal pathway. It is my professional goal and personal commitment to assist children and adolescents (and their families) in identifying barriers to learning and successful social emotional functioning; and to provide effective interventions to help them overcome those barriers. I specialize in assessing the impact of executive function difficulties on classroom performance, social-emotional adjustment, and behavior in school and at home. Once the nature of the impact is determined, I offer several programs of intervention to address identified areas of need. I also work with young adults in that transitional phase of life after high school (ages 18-25).

I continuously strive to give the most individualized care and support that I can, to best meet the needs of each client. In order to do so, I get to know my clients so that I can better understand them, their needs, their weaknesses and most importantly their strengths. In doing so, I am able to more effectively work with them to help them gain a better understanding of themselves and the reasons driving their mal-adaptive behaviors and choices. With a better understanding of oneself and one's actions, the steps towards making desired positive changes become more clear and attainable. I utilize a integrative approach to therapy, combining strategies and techniques from multiple types of therapy. This allows for me to somewhat modify and shift my approach for each client. I predominantly utilize Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Person Centered therapies, and often implement strategies from my holistic background. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions and/or would like to work together. I look forward to working with you.

I work with individual adults and teenagers who are going through a difficult time in their lives. Most often they are experiencing some kind of stressful event, such as difficulty in a relationship or work/school related problems, some form of loss, or simply general dissatisfaction in their lives. Many have some degree of anxiety or depression and find therapy a helpful means of managing these feelings. Over the years I have also worked with many survivors of sexual abuse, people coping with cancer, MS, ALS, and 9/11 first responders and veterans who were coping with trauma, loss and PTSD. I approach therapy from a psychodynamic perspective and am interested in understanding the entire course of one’s development, including what a person’s significant relationships have been like throughout their lives and what their perspective on life is in general. I have been a Clinical Psychologist for 20 years and spent most of that time in private practice in New York City. I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology and an MA in religion with a focus in Buddhism, Hinduism and Taoism, and have had the benefit of training with some of today’s leading psychoanalysts including Lew Aron, PhD and James Grotstein, MD.

I use the powerful Internal Family Systems Model to help you get obstacles out of the way so solutions and connection can emerge. You can check out my award-winning book, "Bring Yourself to Love: How Couples Can Turn Disconnection into Intimacy." I meet with couples in person only except Mid-January through March when I go all online. I see individuals virtually only until covid calms down. The in person times for couples are Mondays in Providence and Wednesdays in Newport. I sometimes have openings but mostly people get on a waiting list and I let them know when I have an opening. I use motivational interviewing to help people with addictions, offering listening, respect, and help moving toward change. I also have many years of experience helping people with trauma and PTSD. I was the program chair of the New England Society for the Treatment of Trauma and Dissociation. When I work with individuals I also use the powerful Internal Family Systems model to help people find their own solutions, and turn their stuck places and problems into resources, peace, aliveness, and connection.

In the years since earning my master's at Columbia, I’ve worked in diverse roles across fields ranging from substance abuse treatment to fintech. I left a job in tech recruiting at a hedge fund to start my practice so I could better align my professional life with my personal goal of helping people lead better, happier lives. Having spent time in a highly competitive and performance-oriented workplace, I understand the pressure my clients are under to be excellent at their jobs while maintaining fulfilling personal lives. This is a lot for any one person to juggle, and it’s normal to need help striking a balance. In my practice, I have worked with investment bankers, actors, startup founders, law students, software engineers, fashion buyers, and a number of professionals from other fields. Together we will gain insight into the challenges you are facing and create a clear path toward solutions.
